Summary Report of Major Actions Taken During the June 2, 2008 Board Meeting
By Dan Grizzle, DMC Board President, and Dr. Bob Stouffer, Superintendent
President Dan Grizzle called the meeting to order.
Ten (10) of the 12 Directors were present, representing a quorum.
The following were also present at the meeting during Open Session – Dr. Bob Stouffer, Superintendent; Cliff Anderson, Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds; John Steddom, Secondary Principal; Linda Steddom, Director of Curriculum and Assessment; Cade Lambert, Elementary Principal; Jen Brauch, Association Member; Jodi Lindsey, Association Member; Steve Hocker, Director-Elect; and Kristi Wohlwend, Director-Elect
Director Bruce Stanley opened the meeting in prayer and presented a devotional based on Max Lucado’s book, A Hat for Ivan. Everyone wears a special “hat” made by the “hatmaker.” Everyone has a “special hat day.” Ivan’s hat day approached. Everyone – the baker, the piano teacher, the fire fighter, and others – had an idea about the perfect hat for Ivan. Ivan collected their hats. He tried to please everyone. He was exhausted from trying to wear all of the hats. Ivan’s father pointed out that none of the hats “fit” Ivan, and these hats were not “right” for him. Ivan’s father made the perfect hat for Ivan. People try to get us to wear different hats. God “makes our hat.” We need to be the person God made us to be in all circumstances. God has given each of us all we need. We shouldn’t seek to try to please people. We should seek to please God. As parents, we must help our children to discover God’s unique calling on their lives; show them God, and let them know what God wants them to do. Father knows best. At DMC, we should be guiding the student’s in God’s direction. Who we are in Christ is all we need.
