Summary of Major Actions Taken by the DMCS Board on June 29, 2006

President Todd Goeldner called a Special Meeting of the DMCS Board to order in Room E117.

Eight (8) of the 12 Directors were in attendance, representing a quorum.

Dr. Bob Stouffer, Superintendent, was also in attendance – as well as Association members,  Dan Carlson, Dr. Larry Long, Tracy Long, Steve Kopf, Dave Bosman, Pam Wharton, Marianne Cary, Doug Macdonald, and Tae Macdonald

Director Norm Dixon opened the meeting in prayer.

The Board approved minutes for the Open Session Board meeting on June 19, 2006.

Marianne Cary spoke during the Communication from the Association portion of the meeting, regarding the shared athletic agreements of Des Moines Christian School. 

The Board approved a 2006-2007 athletic sharing agreement for girls swimming with the Des Moines Independent School District and a 2006-2007 athletic sharing agreement for all other girls and boys sports not offered by DMCS with the Urbandale Community School District. 

The Board adjourned to Closed Session.

The Board approved minutes for the Closed Session Board meeting on June 19, 2006.

With regret, the Board accepted the resignation of Deb Roney, who had been contracted to teach first grade during the 2006-2007 school year.

The Board approved the timing of a call-down vote for a first grade teaching candidate proposed by the administration.

President Todd Goeldner reported that insurance settlements have been reached for the water intrusion incidents of May, 2005 and February, 2006. 

The Board adjourned from Closed Session and reconvened in Open Session.

Director R. Kim Dreher closed the meeting in prayer.

The meeting was adjourned.
