Report of the Major Actions Taken During the DMCS Board Meeting on September 18, 2006

President Dan Grizzle called the meeting to order in the Elementary Teachers’ Workroom.
Twelve (12) of the 12 Directors were in attendance, representing a quorum.
Dr. Bob Stouffer, Superintendent, and Sheryl VanWeelden, Early Education Co-Director, were also in attendance.
Director Ken Hockmuth opened the meeting in prayer.
President Grizzle administered the Oath of Office to newly-elected Director Bill Woodyard.
The Board welcomed Mr. Woodyard to his work on the Board.
The Board adjourned to Closed Session.
The Board approved Closed Session minutes for the meeting on September 5, 2006.
The Board certified the call-down vote approving Susan Anderson as Elementary School Educational Associate for the 2006-2007 school year.
The Board approved Maggie Gilliland and Amy Cox as new Teachers for after-school school-age students in the Early Education program for the 2006-2007 school year.
The Board approved Esther Wright and Karen Kehoe as Class Sponsors of the Eleventh Grade and Michael Gossen and David Harris as Class Sponsors of the Twelfth Grade for the 2006-2007 school year.
The Board adjourned to Open Session.
The Board approved Open Session minutes for the meeting on September 5, 2006.
The Board read 21 Board policies.
The Board tabled 32 Board policies due to time constraints.
The Board received the following items from Linda Steddom, Director of Curriculum and Assessment: (1) The Annual Report of the Director of the Director of Curriculum and Assessment for 2005-2006, (2) The 2005-2006 Annual Progress Report of Des Moines Christian School for the Iowa Department of Education, and (3) Comparisons of DMCS Standardized Test Scores for 2004-2005 to Area Schools in Grades 4, 8, and 11. These documents will be discussed during Open Session at the Board meeting on October 2, 2006.
Director Bruce Stanley closed the meeting in prayer.
