LCpl. James Paul Slater passed away from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident, May 21, 2004.  James, the son of Paul and Mary Slater, attended Des Moines Christian School K-12th grade, graduating in 2003.  He spent one semester at ISU.  James was an adventurous traveler and excellent hunter.  During his childhood he participated in many church activities including: Junior Bible Quiz, Royal Rangers (earning the Gold Medal of Achievement) and MAPS mission trip.  At DMCS he was involved in sports and music and participated in Hoover High School's JROTC program, obtaining the rank of Captain.  At the end of his junior year he joined the US Marine Corps Reserves.  Summer 2003 he graduated from MCRD boot camp in San Diego, CA, since then he attained the rank of Lance Corporal and earned his Rifle Expert medal. 

 

 

David L. Alexander passed away September 1, 2003 at University Hospitals in Iowa City from complications of a bone marrow transplant. David was employed with Principal Life Insurance Pension Administration.  He is survived by his parents, H.J. "Alex" and Candace Alexander of Norwalk; brother, Dan and wife Kathy Alexander and their children, Zachary and Joshua of Urbandale; and grandparents, John (Allen) and Phyllis Cleveland of Norwalk.
