Philosophy Statement:  God created the world with innumerous sounds.  Since the beginning God has given music to mankind to enrich lives and to enhance man’s expression of love to his Creator.  The Bible gives several instances when men and women glorify and praise God through singing and the use of instruments.  Through the study and performance of music, students can focus their gifts and talents into expression that reflect His beauty.  Music is a gift from God.

Bible

Philosophy Statement:  The purpose of Christian education is to equip the Christian young person with the necessary skills to succeed in life.  As such, it is necessary to provide the student with a realistic, bibliocentric view of the world around him.  Our desire is to develop in the student the mind of Christ.  To this end, biblical truth and the teaching of a biblical worldview will be integrated in all academic disciplines, from preschool to high school.

Course Objective:  To present the Bible as the story of God’s acts and words, written so that his people might know God.  To teach the Bible not as a history book, or a rule book, but as the divinely inspired an infallible Word of God, each part of which has a particular purpose and fits into the overall purpose of the Bible.  To help students make an informed commitment to Christ as Savior and Lord and to live out that commitment thought love, obedience, and service in ways appropriate for their spiritual maturity.  To immerse students in the stories and other writings in the Bible so that they may grow in knowledge, wisdom, sensitivity, and creativity.

Social Studies

Philosophy Statement:  From creation to the present day, God has been involved in the governing of man.  By studying the past, we see how God works His will in the lives of those who follow Him and how He has spoken and intervened in history.  The study of history should yield an appreciation and realization of the things God has accomplished through people and nations since the creation of the world and His love and concern as He controls the events of world history.

Course Objective:  The students will study and explore the geography and history of the Eastern Hemisphere.  Students will learn about the first people who lived in Mesopotamia, continuing with the study of the Middle East, then the rest of Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, and Antarctica.  They will learn from a biblical perspective about the things God has accomplished through the people and nations in each of these locations since the creation of the world through current times.  This will be accomplished through the use of reading, discussion, map studies, research, and participation in individual and group projects.
