Philosophy Statement: God, The Master Artist, is the author of all creation. The universe He created is full of colors, textures, patterns, shapes and form to explore. God has gifted individuals with creative expressions and abilities. Through the use of meaningful artistic expressions and experiences, students are given opportunities to utilize their abilities to glorify God. The visual arts can have a powerful impact upon its viewing audience. Realization of such power is an exciting responsibility for students to demonstrate their Christian testimony to the community and society through the use of creative expression.
Course Objective: Students will be introduced to and participate with various art medias. They will utilize the techniques and knowledge learned to complete art projects.

Philosophy Statement: The purpose of Christian education is to equip the Christian young person with the necessary skills to succeed in life. As such, it is necessary to provide the student with a realistic, bibliocentric view of the world around him. Our desire is to develop in the student the mind of Christ. To this end, biblical truth and the teaching of a biblical worldview will be integrated in all academic disciplines, from preschool to high school.
Course Objective: Students will demonstrate knowledge of God’s creation and the history of the Israelite nation from the patriarchs to the captivity. They will survey the role of Jesus as Savior and be introduced to the life of Peter and Paul.

Language
Philosophy Statement: God is the Supreme Communicator and has spoken to His people in many ways. In His goodness, He has given us gifts and abilities to read, write, listen, and speak. These language arts skills are the foundation and gateway to all learning. Understanding and developing these gifts is essential in language arts instruction. Through the study of language arts students will develop written and oral skills that are necessary in becoming life-long learners of God and His word, which in turn will enable them to be salt and light to the world.
Course Objective: Students will understand the importance of order in communication, whether written or oral. They will demonstrate knowledge of correct spelling and basic punctuation and capitalization rules.

Library/ Media Center
Philosophy Statement: Learning to use and appreciate the library is a life-long skill. It cuts across all curricular areas school-wide. “A library is a gathering of ideas, of information—put in order and shared.” (Compton’s Encyclopedia, 1993.) Every student using the library learns more about God’s truth and applying this truth to daily life. The library is a place where students can find needed information and good literature to feed their growing and developing minds.
Course Objective: Students will be introduced to easy-to-read materials, proper library behavior, library procedures, book care and parts of a book. Students will appreciate seasonal, holiday, and curricular themes by reading picture books and completing an activity sheet or participate in a group discussion that reinforces the theme. Students will continue their listening and sharing skills, taking turns, and getting along in a group situation. Students will compare and contrast two stories. Students will be introduced to Caldecott Medal books and what this medal signifies in children’s literature.

Philosophy Statement: God is a God of order, and through the study of mathematics, students will appreciate the orderliness, exactness, and completeness that God has infused throughout his creation. Through the study of mathematics, students can develop a better appreciation of the infinite wisdom of God when compared to the finiteness of man.
Course Objective: Students will be able to solve with speed and accuracy addition and subtractions problems to 18. They will demonstrate problem solving strategies in relation to addition and subtraction, place value to the 10s place, time, money, and measurement. They will be able to read and answer problems relating to graphs, tables, and fractions.

Philosophy Statement: Physical Education is that area which centers on man and his physical development. After an individual accepts Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, the individual should maintain and develop his body to the glory of God. Physical Education focuses on increasing student’s knowledge and affecting student’s attitudes and behaviors relative to physical activities. Through the study of many physical activities, students will be encouraged to incorporate some form of physical activity into their lifestyle.
Course Objective: Students will be encouraged to demonstrate maximum participation in physical activity. Each student will develop fundamental skills, coordination, cooperation and teamwork.

Course Objective: Students will discover how God made them special, how He uses the wind, air, and water for our pleasure and for his glory. Students will also discover how God made animals in unique ways to point the students to the wonders of God’s creation. Students will explore the variety of insects and the importance of plants in our world.

Philosophy Statement: From creation to the present day, God has been involved in the governing of man. By studying the past, we see how God works His will in the lives of those who follow Him and how He has spoken and intervened in history. The study of history should yield an appreciation and realization of the things God has accomplished through people and nations since the creation of the world and His love and concern as He controls the events of world history.
Course Objective: Students will identify the major components of the geography of our country. They will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the flag and the Pledge of Allegiance. They will be able to discuss America’s 4 freedoms, identify the symbols of our nation and the great people of America. Students will show ways that communication and transportation have changed.
