Des Moines Christian School June 2004 Following an exhaustive process involving a planning committee, focus groups, Board oversight, and much prayer, the DMCS Board of Directors unanimously approved a strategic plan for the school at the conclusion of the 2003-2004 school year. Each year, the Board will measure proposed initiatives against the strategic plan; the Directors, administrative team members, and future action team members will work to realize this vision for DMCS. Several documents are available on this website: 1. A new "context diagram" which sets the context of strategic planning 2. Reaffirmation of the unchanged Statement of Faith 3. A new Biblical worldview document 4. The unchanged Mission Statement 5. A Vision document which fine-tuned earlier DMCS documents without compromising the integrity of the Word of God 6. A new "constituency" document 7. And a newly worded "Core Values" document, again consistent with the truth of God's Word Biblical Worldview A worldview is the lens through which we see the world around us. A worldview is the sum total of our beliefs about the most important things in life - like God, the nature of man, our purpose, the world, morality, truth, and the afterlife. Our worldview determines what values we hold and the actions we take in daily and long-term decisions. Today, with so many different worldviews, cultures, and social issues competing for our attention, students need to be able to discern how to integrate the Biblical worldview into their life and the culture around them. The Biblical worldview of DMCS provides answers to significant life questions such as the following:
A Biblical worldview is ultimately important because the way we see the world indicates how we believe we can change the world. At DMCS, the Biblical worldview affirms history as a linear and meaningful sequence of events leading to the fulfillment of God’s redemptive purposes through His Son Jesus Christ. |
