Des Moines Christian School
Strategic Plan

June 2004

Following an exhaustive process involving a planning committee, focus groups, Board oversight, and much prayer, the DMCS Board of Directors unanimously approved a strategic plan for the school at the conclusion of the 2003-2004 school year. Each year, the Board will measure proposed initiatives against the strategic plan; the Directors, administrative team members, and future action team members will work to realize this vision for DMCS. Several documents are available on this website:

1. A new "context diagram" which sets the context of strategic planning

2. Reaffirmation of the unchanged Statement of Faith

3. A new Biblical worldview document

4. The unchanged Mission Statement

5. A Vision document which fine-tuned earlier DMCS documents without compromising the integrity of the Word of God

6. A new "constituency" document

7. And a newly worded "Core Values" document, again consistent with the truth of God's Word

Core Values

Definition: The non-negotiable beliefs on which DMCS stands.

Christ As First Love

Believing in Jesus Christ as God, Savior, and Lord, we affirm that the leadership of Christ must be preeminent and foundational to all the activities of life: individual, family, church, work, and school.  (Matthew 22:37, Romans 12:1-5)

Spirit-Led

We are committed to seeking God’s will, which is made known to us through prayer, the Scriptures, Godly counsel, and the teaching of the Holy Spirit.  (Psalm 143:10, John 16:13, Romans 8:5-14, Galatians 5:16-18, 1 John 5:14-15)

Servanthood

Following the model of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, we are dedicated to serving the needs of and praying regularly for our staff, students, families, churches, and community.  (Mark 10:45, Romans 12:10-13, 2 Corinthians 4:5, Philippians 2:3-8

Stewardship

We are committed to Biblical principles for responsible management of the resources provided to us by God, including our time, our Spiritual gifts, and our finances.  (Ecclesiastes 5:5, Matthew 6:24, Matthew 25:14-29, 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, Philippians 4:19)

Academic Excellence

Through the lens of God’s word, we provide each student the opportunity to achieve academic goals enabling each to pursue a God-given calling.  (Exodus 18:20, Deuteronomy 11:18-19, Proverbs 9:9, Proverbs 22:17-19, 2 Timothy 2:15)

Glorifying God in All We Do

Our ultimate goal is to teach the child to know God, love Him, enjoy Him, and witness of Him in a life of service to God and man.  Affirming the God-given value, preciousness, and gifts of every individual, we encourage our staff, students, and families to make a positive impact in the world around us through extra-curricular involvement, community interaction, and personal evangelism.  (John 17:4, Acts 1:8, Colossians 3:12-17)
