Another great day in Fort Dodge today!  The DMC Lions defeated the Stanton ViQueens 4-0 in 7 innings on a 2-hit gem by pitcher Amanda Nikkel.  Amanda set a new state tournament strikeout record for a seven-inning game.  She was definitely a dominating pitcher.  We scored all four runs after two outs in one inning.  If you’d like to see the box score and play-by-play, check out the information below.  I was impressed with the visiting crowd – very vocal, enthusiastic, and positively supportive of their team.  That’s what the tournament is all about – uniting communities around the accomplishments of the softball teams.  Our crowd, team, and coaches were great.  Look for more coverage in the Des Moines Register!  What a thrill to have seen our first-ever competition in a girls’ state competition with a 5th place finish!  Please congratulate the players, Howard Harris, Peggy Lettow, and Dave Bosman when you see them!
