I am the Elementary Resource Teacher at Des Moines Christian School. My passion is working with students to help them overcome academic challenges. I am starting my 6th year at DMCS. I taught preschool for two years before switching to the Resource position. I am married to Doug Cappel, who served on the DMCS board of directors for 3 years. I have 2 children in 9th and 6th grades here at DMCS. We are active in Valley Evangelical Free Church in West Des Moines.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Iowa with a reading endorsement. I received a Master of Arts in Learning Disabilities from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. This last year I have become a certified Irlen Screener, to add to services available at Des Moines Christian School.
I grew up in a Christian home, coming to know the Lord as my personal savior at a young age. I'm thankful to work with a wonderful group of Christians at DMCS and am continually amazed with the grace God affords me.
