Heart of iowa STO
Des Moines Christian School is one of seven Christian Schools represented by the Heart of Iowa School Tuition Organization (STO). The sole purpose of this organization is to collect contributions that are distributed at needs based scholarships.
Iowa law requires each STO to distribute at least 90% of the contributions received. This source of funding provided $220,000 in scholarships last year and was allocated to 120 DMCS students.
Iowa law also authorizes the STO to provide the donor with a State of Iowa tax credit certificate equal to 65% of his or her donation. The credit replaces the opportunity to claim this gift as a charitable donation on your Iowa tax return, but does not impact your ability to claim the gift on your Federal Tax return. The combination of the credit and the deduction create a giving opportunity that nets to minimal out of pocket expenses for our donors. Tax credits are limited each year.
The STO accepts gifts of both cash and stock. Checks should be made to The Heart of Iowa STO and mailed to Heart of Iowa STO, 13007 Douglas Parkway, Suite 100 Urbandale, Iowa 50323. You may restrict your gift to students at Des Moines Christian School or your may provide an unrestricted donation.
