Rhythmic speech, movement, singing, games, instruments, reading, listening, composition, improvisation and performance are all a part of the student's elementary music experience at Des Moines Christian School. As I enter my fourteenth year of teaching at DMCS, I continue to be excited and blessed in working with pre-school through sixth grade children in a Christian education setting. Every school day is an adventure filled with inquisitiveness, enthusiasm and creativity!
Professionally, I earned a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Drake University. I am currently licensed by both the State of Iowa (K-12 music) and the Association of Christian Schools International. I am a member of Kodaly Educators of Iowa and OAKE and hold certification in Orff Levels I & II and Kodaly I. My undergraduate music studies included pipe organ, piano and voice. Although my main teaching experience is at the elementary level, I have also taught middle school vocal & general music.
In my mid-twenties, I heard the salvation message and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I praise God for His saving grace, unconditional love, sovereignty and faithfulness in my life. Being able to serve others and glorify Him through the gift of music has truly been a privilege and blessing for me.
