Mrs. Keithley, Fifth Grade Teacher
|
It has been my privilege to be a part of the DMCS family as a teacher for the past eight years. I taught two years in 6th grade before making the move to 5th grade. I love working with upper elementary students, and count it an honor to help them further their education and grow closer to Christ. I am supported at home by my husband, Scott and our three children. Sam, our oldest, is attending Moody Bible Institute in Spokane, WA. Sol is a senior this year at DMCS, and our youngest, Emma, will be in 6th grade.
I obtained a BA in Elementary Education from Judson College in Elgin, Illinois with an emphasis in Art History. Immediately, I took a position as a P.E. teacher for girls K - 12 grade at a Christian School in Arlington Heights, Ill. Although I was asked to return to help start an art program for the school, I moved back to Des Moines to marry Scott and start our family. As a stay-at-home mom, I served in many areas of childrens ministry in our local church. Currently I am licensed by the Iowa Department of Education, and am certified by the Association of Christian Schools International. I continue in education course work not only to keep up my license, but to be a life long learner and hone my skills as an educator.
I was in high school when I first came to realize what Christ did for me on the cross. After accepting His free gift of salvation, I began to grow in my faith through reading the Bible, praying, attending church and telling others about Christ. My number one desire is to glorify God in all I say and do. To me, there is no greater reward than to share the truth of God's word with students and see them grow in their faith.
