PTF

The purpose of PTF is to serve and support the teachers, students, staff and parents of Des Moines Christian School. All school families are members of PTF -- we welcome you!

Some of our activities include:

1. Recognition and appreciation of our teachers and staff through meals, cards and gifts.

2. Organizing student programs and events:

Summer Reading Program
The Big Blue Bash Carnival
Classroom parties hosted by our Awesome Homeroom Parents

3. Fundraising such as our "Magazine Sale" which starts at the beginning of each school year. This fundraiser provides our school with the opportunity to purchase items such as equipment and other needs for our school. This past year, we were able to purchase a TV monitor in the main entrance for announcements and reminders for our DMC families. We also added a few special touches to the secondary library. We replaced several office equipment items such as a new shredder and laminator. A new climbing wall panel was purchased for the gym and blinds were installed to the windows along the north end of the building. We will continue to contribute to the Emergency Tuition Fund as a blessing to our families in financial need. Ordering or renewing magazines are available year round. Go online to www.QSP.com. 4. The Box Tops for Education program makes it easy to earn money for DMCS just by shopping for groceries. Look for the Box Tops logo on hundreds of products such as Cheerios cereal, Yoplait yogurt and Kleenex tissues. Simply clip Box Tops off participating products and send them to school with your child. Each Box Top is worth 10¢ for our school, just think of what 48,000 are worth! Clipping Box Tops off participating product packaging is NOT the only way to earn Box Tops. By signing up at www.boxtops4education.com, you can enter contests for a chance to earn additional box tops, print product coupons, and find recipes and a list of participating products. Most importantly you can track how DMCS is doing at a local, state and national level.
Signing up is easy, from the Box Tops home page, click "Join Box Tops" in the upper right hand corner of the page. Select Des Moines Christian PTA/PTO and complete the remaining questions. As of November 1, 2011, DMCS has 220 online school supporters. PTF is looking to grow the impact of this program. We are looking for a team of volunteers to help collect and organize Box Tops submitted by our school supporters for the upcoming 2011-2012 school year. 5. We just started the Land O'Lakes bottle cap program this year. For every specially marked cap from Land O'Lakes milk and orange juice gallons, DMCS receives 5 cents. Simply clean the bottle caps and put in a Ziplock bag and send them to school with your child. If you have any questions, please contact Deanna Skokan at skokanmd@msn.com. As of October 2011, we have almost 400 bottle caps! We hope to reach 3,000 by May 2012 and appreciate your support of this new program.
