Des Moines Christian welcomes students for learning and fun in the summer!  Specialty Camps are open to all metro area students, so invite your friends. If your student needs care before, after, or between Specialty Camps, DMCS Summer Camp is available at a discounted rate for the weeks needed.

Fine Arts

Drawing and Painting - Primary

This super fun class is always a hit! By creating drawings and paintings, students explore their God-given creativity and how each of their creative styles is individual and unique -- just the way they were created. We chat, share ideas, explore drawing and acrylic painting techniques, and learn how to express our individual art style in this hands-on drawing and painting class. It’s loads of creative fun!

Students who like working with their hands will love this new collage class. Students will use found objects, pictures, magazine images, drawing and painting materials, and just about anything they can dream up to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind art collages.

Elementary Show Choir

This camp will highlight show choir basics, including singing and dancing at the same time, as well as working together to create a Christ-centered show choir performance. Learn all about the sewing machine, from safety and threading to earning a sewing machine driver’s license! This camp is perfect for children with little to no sewing machine experience. We will spend time practicing sewing and then take our new skills and put them to use on some super fun projects. Your child will leave with a great basic understanding of sewing by hand and machine, but more importantly, with a whole lot of confidence. Bring your own sewing machine or use one of ours. Please register for Summer Sewing Camp I only if your child has not  previously taken sewing classes or camps at DMCS.

This camp builds on the skills kids have learned with previous sewing experience. It is designed for kids who have taken Summer Sewing Camp I, have participated in the DMC 5th grade sewing elective, or have already earned their sewing machine drivers license with Mrs. Casady. Kids will gain more experience with hand and machine sewing, creating more advanced projects than what is learned in Summer Sewing Camp I. Bring your own sewing machine or use one of ours. (It is possible to sign your child up for both Summer Sewing Camps I & II in the same summer).

Love remote control cars? Join Clayton Denton and Gabe VerSteeg, RC experts, to put your RC skills to the test with obstacle courses, landing platforms, and freestyle challenges! Each student will use and TAKE HOME a 1/18 scale or larger, 2.4Ghz controlled quality RC car or truck that's ready for competition. Great fun with ramps, obstacles, and more. We’ve added a 5th day of adventure to make this the most fun summer camp ever!

First LEGO® League (FLL) Robotics

Make your LEGO® creations come to life with the EV3 LEGO® brick controller. Using stepper motors and sensors, learn how to tackle missions while navigating on an official FIRST LEGO® League (FLL) table. Students will use teamwork, creativity, engineering, and Mindstorms programming to propel an autonomous robot across the field to accomplish its objective like a real FLL robot game. Also, learn about the required project and robot design requirements. Students will also learn robotic skills that they can use in the real world outside of camp!

Kingdom Builders

They will make a variety of foods to sample and get a recipe book of all the class recipes to repeat at home for their families to enjoy.

They will make a variety of foods to sample and get a recipe book of all the class recipes so they can repeat them at home for their families to enjoy. Participants must be able to easily read and follow recipes and directions and work well with others. (It is possible to sign your child up for multiple cooking camps in the same summer.)
