The DMC High School Student Council is excited to invite you to PARADISE, the 2019 Homecoming celebration scheduled for September 16-21.
We would love to have you join us for various events throughout the week and share your pictures on social media using the hashtag #dmchoco19. DMCS will upload daily pictures for dress up winners, intramural activities, and other events during the school day so you can share in the daily excitement as well.
Praying the Lord is glorified through our learning and student activities as well as our community fellowship. Go Lions!

THEME - The theme for Homecoming 2019 is Paradise.
HOMECOMING SURVIVAL TIPS - Homecoming Week is packed with fun-filled activity and school fellowship. We’ve created these survival tips to ensure students in Grades 9-12 enjoy the week as much as possible.
NO MODIFIED DAILY SCHEDULE FOR HIGH SCHOOL - Unlike previous years, we will not have a modified schedule in high school for Homecoming week. Please see below for the daily schedule and plans for intramurals.
- Monday, Sept 16 - Day 4 (intramurals during advisory)
- Tuesday, Sept 17 - Day 5 (no intramurals)
- Wednesday, Sept 18 - Day 6 (no intramurals)
- Thursday, Sept 19 - Day 1 (no intramurals)
- Friday, Sept 20 - Day 2 (intramurals during chapel)
Middle school will be running this modified schedule.
CLASS COMPETITIONS - High school students will have the opportunity to engage in friendly competition during the week for an opportunity to win the HS SPIRIT TROPHY. The following activities are each awarded points and the winning grade level will be announced at the pep rally on Friday.
GAME NIGHT - High school student may participate in a series of games on Tuesday, September 17 beginning around 8:30 pm. Wear your class colors and be ready to run, dodge, and capture the flag!
BANNERS - Each grade-level will create a banner incorporating the theme for Homecoming to be featured in the parade. The winning banner will be used for the football team to run through at the game on Friday night.
CANNED FOOD DRIVE - We want to give back to our community this week and will be collecting canned good items to donate to a local food pantry. Classes will receive points toward their class competition for bringing in items.
INTRAMURALS - Students in Grades 9 - 12 will participate in intramural activities (volleyball, football, and Knowledge Bowl). We will have an intramural championship on Friday, September 20 at 11:15 am.
DRESS UP DAYS - All students in high school are encouraged to participate in grade-level dress up days. Winners will be selected each morning and featured on DMCS social media. **Students / staff may not dress as members of the opposite gender.
Middle school will mirror the high school dress up days. Elementary and Early Education dress up days can be found here.
PARADE & PEP RALLY - Join us for the parade and pep rally on Friday, September 20 at 2:00(ish) pm. Visitor and handicap parking in the west lot will be closed from 1:30-2:45 pm to prepare for the parade.
TAILGATING @ FOOTBALL GAME - We hope you join us as the Lions take on the North High School Polar Bears at 7:00 pm on Friday, September 20. Many of you may have plans for tailgating that evening - Yay! We just ask that you follow these guidelines for that night: a) Tailgating may take place around the softball field, not the Early Education parking lot; b) Please ensure good stewardship of the campus by picking up garbage, BBQ coals, etc. If you can't make it to the game, you can stream the video online.
PARKING ON FRIDAY - One important item to note (which will hopefully reduce frustration) is that parking during school-wide events will be a challenge. Our best advice is to carpool whenever you can with your student or other families, especially for the parade, pep rally, and football game on Friday night. We will have parking attendants at the Friday football game - please, respectfully, follow their directions.
MISSION TRIP PANCAKE BREAKFAST - Join the Dominican and Honduras mission trip teams on Saturday morning from 9:00-11:00 am for a pancake breakfast fundraiser to help cover expenses associated with each trip. Teams will be present to share a little more about the work they will do in March 2020 as they impact the world for Christ.
DANCE - The dance will be in the Performance Hall from 8:00-11:00 pm on Saturday, September 21. Doors close at 8:30 pm and students will not be allowed to enter late. If students decide to leave the dance early, chaperones will make them call / text parents to notify them first so you are aware your student is leaving early.
Tickets for the dance will be on sale for $15 during lunch beginning Monday, September 16.
- Outside Guest Forms
Students in Grades 10-12 who are bringing a non-DMCS guest to the dance must have this form completed and returned to the high school office for administrative approval no later than Friday, September 13. Late or incomplete submissions will be denied. Make sure the outside guest includes a photo ID with the approval form.
- Dresses for the Dance
If your student would like me to approve a dress for them or a non-DMC guest, please have them email me and I’m happy to let them know if it meets criteria.
FRESHMAN STUDENT / PARENTS CLEAN UP - The Class of 2023 and their parents have the awesome right of passage with clean up duty after the dance on Saturday. Our goal is to clean up in less than 30 minutes so it’s all hands on deck. See you at 11:00 pm on the 21st!
