Christmas Week at DMC

DMC students and their families have been celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ at Christmas since our first year of classes 71 years ago. The first week of December is Christmas Week at DMC, and we invite all current grandparents and alumni grandparents to gather with us to celebrate the birth of our Savior and God’s promises of restoration, redemption, and eternal life.

Monday, December 2

Early Education Christmas Program - Happy Birthday, Jesus!

4:30 pm - Performance Hall doors open
5:30 pm - Program begins

Location: DMC Performance Hall

Parking: Main Parking Lot at the Performance Hall Entrance

We have 150 students between the ages of two and five who will be dressed in their Christmas best and performing for their families. The element of surprise is always a possibility when our little ones joyfully lift up praises to the King of Kings.  Please join us for cookies after the program.

Tuesday, December 3

Grandparent Fellowship

8:30 - 9:30 am - Join us in the Performance Hall for refreshments with other grandparents and welcome from Superintendent Cade Lambert

Location: Performance Hall

The Performance Hall will open at 8:30 am. All grandparents attending the elementary open house are invited to come early and enjoy refreshments and fellowship with other grandparents. You will meet Mr. Lambert, our Superintendent, and Mrs. Lowe, our Elementary Principal.  Students will provide you with classroom maps, and Mrs. Lowe will dismiss grandparents to classrooms at 9:30 am. If your schedule does not allow you to arrive this early, you are welcome to arrive at 9:30 am for the open house.

Elementary Open House

9:30 - 10:30 am

Location: DMC Elementary Classrooms

Parking: Our entire parking lot will be open, our handicapped spaces are located near the Main/Elementary entrance.

Entrances: You may enter at the Main/Elementary Entrance or the Performance Hall Entrance.  Our 5th grade student council members will be stationed at both doors to provide maps and help you find your grandchildren’s classrooms.

All kindergarten through fifth grade classrooms will be open. After meeting your grandchild in their room, you may also tour the elementary media center (including the green room and the learning lab), the music room, the art room, and STEAM labs. Students and grandparents may stop by the newly remodeled Great Room for cookies before leaving to enjoy lunch prior to the program.

Elementary Dismissal

10: 30 am - Elementary students may leave will be dismissed at 10:30 am to prepare for the Christmas program.

Elementary Christmas Program

12:30 pm - Doors open for general seating
1:00 - 2:00 pm - Program

Location: Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines, 50266

Almost 450 students in kindergarten through fifth grade will present “Wonders of His Love.” This program has been a signature DMC event for decades. 

Thursday, December 5

Middle School Christmas Concert

5:00 pm - Performance Hall doors open for general seating
5:30 - 6:30 pm - Concert

Location: DMC Performance Hall

Parking: Main Parking Lot / Performance Hall Entrance. Our handicapped parking spaces are located near the main entrance.  If you choose to park here, you can enter the main entrance and walk inside to the Performance Hall.

High School Christmas Concert

6:30 pm - Performance Hall doors open (after MS program ends)
7:00 pm - Concert begins

Location: DMC Performance Hall

Parking:  Many parking spaces near the Performance Hall Entrance will be taken by guests at the Middle School Program.  Expect to park closer to our Elementary/Main Gym entrance, enter the building here and walk inside to the Performance Hall.  Our east parking lot will also be open for this concert. These parking spots are near the entrance and provide ramp access to the doors.
