Des Moines Christian welcomes students for learning and fun in the summer!  Specialty Camps are open to all metro area students, so invite your friends. If your student needs care before, after, or between Specialty Camps, DMCS Summer Camp is available at a discounted rate for the weeks needed.

Fine Arts

Animals Everywhere!  Primary Art Camp

God made all creatures great and small! In this primary art camp we will be exploring animals and insects through observation, discussion, drawing, and painting. While we can’t bring lions, tigers, and bears (or grasshoppers) into the classroom, we can pretend by painting our own art mural chock full of God’s colorful creatures. Students will employ basic art and design elements while having lots of hands-on fun with drawing and painting. Camp maximum: 10 students

Mixed Media Creative Art 

Students entering grades 4-6

In this interactive art camp for 4-6th graders, students will be exploring their God-given creativity through the use of mixed-media painting. Students will use a variety of traditional art materials, while incorporating non-traditional items into their work to create completely unique, interesting, and super cool works of art.  Camp maximum:  10 students

Elementary Show Choir

This camp will highlight show choir basics, including singing and dancing at the same time, as well as working together to create a Christ-centered show choir performance.  Students will learn a set of show choir music/choreography and perform for their families at the end of the camp. Love to sing, dance or perform? This high energy camp will help improve a students show choir skills while working together to create an exciting show. Junior High Worship Experience

Does your student love to worship the Lord through music?  This camp is designed for kids who sing and/or play an instrument such as the piano, guitar, ukulele, bass or drums.  Students will learn about being part of a worship team, explore the technical side, choose songs, and rehearse worship sets together in groups.  Each student will receive a folder with chord charts and song lyrics.

Sewing

Learn all about the sewing machine, from safety and threading to earning their sewing machine drivers license! This camp is perfect for children with little to no sewing machine experience or as a great refresher for those who already have some experience. We will spend time practicing sewing and then take our new skills and put them to use on some super fun projects. Your child will leave with a great basic understanding of sewing by hand and machine, but more importantly, with a whole lot of confidence.  Bring your own sewing machine or use one of ours.  Space is limited to 10 kids.

Have you ever wanted to learn to 3D print?  Come spend the week with us and learn to use Tinkercad to design some amazing creations and learn the process of printing them.  If time allows, campers will also use Spheros to learn some coding skills!

Love them RC cars, Helicopters and Drones? Put your RC skills to the test with obstacle courses, landing platforms, and freestyle challenges! Back by popular demand! This season each student will get a 1/18 scale or larger, 2.4Ghz controlled quality RC car or truck that's ready for competition. Great fun with ramps, obstacles, drone races, helicopter challenges and more. Most fun summer camp ever!

First LEGO® League (FLL) Robotics

Make your LEGO® creations come to life with the EV3 LEGO® brick controller. Using stepper motors and sensors, learn how to tackle missions while navigating on a FIRST LEGO® competition table. Students will use teamwork, creativity, engineering, and LABVIEW programming to propel an autonomous robot across the field to accomplish its objective like a real FLL robot game. Also, learn about the required project and robot design requirements. Learn robotic skills you can use in the real world!

Our Debate camp offers middle and high school students a unique opportunity to learn the basics of competitive debate in the context of this year's topic: immigration reform. This camp is designed to engage and develop the student's ability to think critically, organize their thoughts into a persuasive argument, and increase public speaking confidence.

Spanish Immersion


Immersion Sports is not just a camp for athletes! It’s a Spanish language learning camp that will exercise your student’s brain and physical body!  Students will learn about sports, cultures and competition all in Spanish and all while having fun. Activities include: games, crafts, music, projects, and end with a camp show for parents which showcase the new language skills the campers acquired throughout the fun-filled week. Students will walk away with great memories and exposure to the Spanish language. Sports are fun, Spanish is fun, join us for a week of both!  Register directly with The Language Project. 
Cooking

Cooking I

Kids will learn how cooking can be fun, healthy & delicious! They will learn a variety of cooking skills including how to measure and mix ingredients, follow recipes, etc., and will get to experience new foods in a fun, hands-on atmosphere. Campers will make a variety of foods to sample and get a recipe book of all the class recipes to repeat at home for their families to enjoy. Includes a camp t-shirt.

Cooking II

They will make a variety of foods to sample and get a recipe book of all the class recipes to repeat at home for their families to enjoy. Includes a camp t-shirt.

Cooking III

Participants must be able to easily read and follow recipes and directions and work well with others. Includes a camp t-shirt. (It is possible to sign your child up for multiple cooking camps in the same summer.)
