Summer Camps

Des Moines Christian School offers all-day summer child care camp for two-year-olds through students who just completed fifth grade. We're here when you need us! Sign up only for the weeks you need child care. Our summer days are filled with opportunities to discover new things, explore the outdoors, learn through service, and discover God's world. Our experienced staff ensure your child is having fun, kept safe and shown God’s love during their time with us at summer camp. Please contact us to learn more about availability at 515-252-2482.  

Summer Activity Camps are open to all families, not just those with students enrolled at DMC. If you have a child in a summer child care camp and sign up for an activity camp, DMC will ensure they get to and return from their activity camp.

 Child Care Summer Camps

Little Lions Club (ages 2-5)

Little Lions Club is for children age 2 through 5.

 

2-year-olds   $275/week
3-year-olds   $260/week

Cubbies Club (Kdg & 1st Grade)

Students who have completed kindergarten or 1st grade are invited to spend the summer with their friends in Cubbies Club. Cubbies will go off-site on field trips 2-3 times per week and will visit a splash pad at least once each week.

Kdg-5th grade students   $200/week

Students who have completed 2nd through 5th grade are part of Lions Club. Campers will go off-site on field trips 2-3 times per week and will visit a pool at least once each week.

Camps for Elementary Students

Painting and Drawing (students entering grades 1-3)

Bugs and Creepy Crawlers (students entering grades 1-3)

Is something bugging you? In this class, students get up close and personal with some very creepy crawlers! Well, at least in pictures anyway. Students draw, paint, fold, cut, color, glue, and use anything else we can think of to create fun (and kind of creepy) bug art! Weather permitting, we will take a few interactive nature walks, so bring your magnifying glasses! 

Elementary Show Choir (students entering grades 3-5)

This camp will highlight show choir basics, including singing and dancing at the same time, as well as working together to create a Christ-centered show choir performance. Come learn to crochet with Mrs. Keithley! Whether you are new to crochet or you have crocheted before, you are welcome to join us as she teaches you how to crochet a variety of items with a variety of stitches. You may even choose to participate with your parent/child. Wash cloths, scarves, blankets, headbands, slippers or socks, ponchos, bears, and hacky sacks are just some of the items Mrs. Keithley can teach you to crochet. Supplies provided for the first project or two, while extra projects may require some supplies provided by participants. 

STEAM into Reading (students entering grades 4-6)

RC Racers (students entering grade 4 and up)

Each student will use and TAKE HOME a 1/18 scale or larger, 2.4Ghz controlled quality RC car or truck that's ready for competition. Great fun with ramps, obstacles, and more. We've added a 5th day of adventure to make this the most fun summer camp ever!

First LEGO® League (FLL) Robotics - Session I (students entering grades 5-9)

Students will use teamwork, creativity, engineering, and Mindstorms programming to propel an autonomous robot across the field to accomplish its objective like a real FLL robot game. Also, learn about the required project and robot design requirements. Students will also learn robotic skills that they can use in the real world outside of camp!

The running and fitness camp is intended for athletes of all abilities to improve upon speed and endurance, as well as the other components that help an athlete perform their best. In addition to running, we will be spending time going through drills as well as discovering the science behind the keys to reaching our fitness goals, improving mental strength, and evaluating our nutrition. Throughout the days of camp, there will be a variety of workouts, guest lectures, interactive learning through science, and fun workout games as well!

An opportunity for 6-8th grade students interested in color guard, otherwise known as the flags in marching bands. Involvement in band is NOT a requirement. We will learn basic flag drills and dance moves as we prepare a choreographed song to present to parents and guests on the last day of camp. We also will learn to flag the school fight song and join the band in the fall for a football game performance. Fun social activities will be mixed into our daily schedule to ramp up the fun! A t-shirt is included with registration.
