Musical Theater and Drama

Each school year students perform a spring play or musical directed by a community theater professional. Students have whisked audiences away to the The Little Mermaid, James and the Giant Peach, and Mary Poppins. In addition to roles on stage, there are also opportunities for behind-the-scenes technical expertise and stage management.

The Little Mermaid

The 24-25 cast of The Little Mermaid received many recognitions from the Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards (IHSMTA). The Des Moines Christian School theater department also participated in the 2025 Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards Showcase, presented by EMC Insurance Companies, in honor of the school's achievements for the production.
