DMC's Golden PlatyPi

Jan 13, 2014

As you know, big league teams have a mascot.  Iowa State has a red and gold chicken, The University of Iowa has a black and gold chicken hawk.  UNI has a panther.  Drake has the Bulldog.  Des Moines Christian has a lion.  Now -- wait for it - The FLL (First Lego League) Team has a genuine "Golden PlatyPI".  Yes, Golden PlatyPl do exist!  Nick Fejfar, sporting a morph suit and a full size Lego Golden PlatyPI outfit, will represent our team in the open ceremonies, as well as be the team ambassador thoughout the competition day on Saturday, January 18, 2014!  What will this team do next???  Joining 72 elite teams Saturday for the State Championship, the FLL Golden PlatyPI have been working working hard since July, 2013 to reach this championship. The Golden PlatyPI team will compete in the robot game at 10:00 a.m., 11:37 a.m., and 1:52 p.m.  The core values interview is at 10:30 a.m.  The Robot Design interview is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.  And the project featuring our "Super Poncho" is set for 2:30 p.m.

The championship is free to the public. Find complete information about the event here.

The competition is wild, crazy, extremely noisy, and JUST PLAIN FUN!  The kids invent amazing robots, products, and team presentations which will bring a smile to your face. The competitors make new friends, see how other teams compete, and bring their best game.  Our mascot will keep me entertained all day!  The team will be wearing their shirts on Friday at DMCS!   Our robot game is excellent; our project is excellent; and, honoring the core values of FLL, the team has been extremely strong in spirit.  Being the gracious professionals we are, we do not plan to win anything. However, we will do our best and have a great time!
