DMC Celebrates Historic Legislation

On January 24, 2023, Governor Kim Reynolds signed the Students First Act into law. DMC is celebrating this historic legislation and the impact it will have on families across the state of Iowa who desire Christian education for their children. This law creates Educational Savings Accounts (ESAs) for eligible K-12 students attending an accredited non-public school. Des Moines Christian is accredited and these funds are for our students.
The three-year roll out begins in the 23-24 school year. The Iowa Department of Education has created an Educational Savings Account webpage with the most up-to-date information.
While this is a historic change in funding, DMC’s commitment to our mission to equip minds and nurture hearts to impact the world for Christ and our admission criteria remain the same. DMC is a member of the Iowa Association of Christian Schools, an organization committed to supporting non-public schools as we navigate this change. DMC will share more information about the rollout as it becomes available.
