Linda Steele has been named the Head of High School at Des Moines Christian School beginning in the 2026-27 school year. Mrs. Steele currently serves as Assistant Elementary Principal at DMC and has more than 15 years of educational leadership experience.

Mrs. Steele’s leadership extends across elementary, middle, and high school settings, with a strong background in instructional leadership, staff development, school culture, and student support systems. Throughout her career, she has led professional learning communities, coached and evaluated teachers, guided curriculum and assessment work, and partnered closely with families to support academic and spiritual growth. Her experience includes classroom teaching, instructional coaching, gifted education, and administrative leadership, all grounded in a relational, Christ-centered approach. As a current DMC leader, Mrs. Steele already has a strong understanding of the school’s mission, culture, and community.

DMC Head of Academics (Incoming Associate Head of School) Heather Nerem says, “As Mrs. Steele steps into this role, I have tremendous confidence in her leadership, her character, and the way she faithfully serves others each day. Mrs. Steele has a beautiful walk with the Lord — the words ‘He walks with me and He talks with me’ truly reflect the depth of her relationship with Him. She genuinely cares for people and will lead, shepherd, and support our staff and students well. She is a strong systems leader who brings wisdom, intentionality, and a commitment to excellence, while holding high standards for instruction and student growth. I truly believe Mrs. Steele is being positioned in this seat for such a time as this.”

A message from Mrs. Steele

"It is an honor to serve as the next Head of High School at DMC. The high school years are an important and formative time in a student’s life. I am committed to building on our strong foundation, and continuing to foster a community of flourishing, where students are known, challenged, and encouraged to grow in their walk with Christ. DMC is a special place with a strong, Christ-centered culture and outstanding faculty and staff who are committed to equipping minds and nurturing hearts to impact the world for Christ.

This is an exciting time in the life of the Des Moines Christian community. The 2026-27 school year will mark an important season of continued growth and preparation as we look ahead to opening our new high school building in 2027-28. Serving and leading alongside an incredible community is a privilege, and I look forward to all that the Lord has in store for the years ahead."

Mrs. Steele and her husband Dan have been married for 34 years and have four children: Moriah (Dylan) Snyder of Des Moines; Haley (John) Schomers of Eagan, Minnesota; Brooke (Oliver) Yoder of Iowa City, and Case Steele, DMC class of 2026.
