Lions Name New Varsity Boys Basketball Coach July 21, 2017 DMCS is pleased to announce that Jason Van Mersbergen has accepted the position of boys varsity basketball coach. Jason is familiar with DMC as both a parent and coach, having served as a high school boys basketball coach and a leading the girls varsity soccer program. We received applications from around the state. A search committee consisting of a DMC teacher, coach, board member, and administrator was convened to help find the next leader of our varsity boys basketball program. After interviewing the finalists, the committee was impressed with Jason's dedication to our mission and his passion for DMCS. Additionally, Jason's desire to mentor young men in their Christian walk and challenge them on the basketball court made it clear that he was the man to lead this program. "Jason is passionate about establishing relationships with his players and creating a family-first culture. We look forward to his leadership of the basketball program this winter," says Athletic Director Greg Van Soelen. Coach Van Mersbergen will now begin the task of surrounding himself with quality coaches who will help advance the program at all levels. Jason is married to Kristin and has four children who are all enrolled at DMC: Makayla (preschool), Klayton (1st), and twins Hailey and Brynn (3rd). Please welcome Jason to his new position. Back
